Sugar Flower ArtÂ
With Carina Jayne Cake Artistry
In just a few weeks, you could be creating professional and realistic sugar flowers that youâve been admiring and saving for inspiration.
Â
You know that feeling when you finish a sugar flower and it just doesnât look right? The petals are too thick, the shape is off, and no matter how many tutorials youâve watched you still canât work out why yours donât have that delicate, realistic look youâre going for.
Other cake makers make it look really easy until you realise your flowers look a bit homemade, youâve watched tutorials, saved photos, bought cutters you thought would help but when it comes to actually making sugar flowers yourself, in real like they donât turn out how you imagined.Â
Itâs not because youâre not talented enough. Itâs understanding the small details that actually make the difference.
Â
You want your cakes to look more luxury and high end and offer clients handcrafted sugar flowers for their weddings and celebrations so you can earn more but feel worried that theyâre not refined and professional.
I honestly used to feel like that too.
When I started making sugar flowers they looked bulky and shapeless and I used to get overwhelmed about the amount of detail. If Iâd made sugar flowers, I would feel the anxiety before my customer had cone to collect to see their reaction if they  would like it, wondering if they were good enough.Â
Â
No colour variation, no flow or movement to the petals just flat all one colour and quite shapeless and bulky, and i used to shy away form them altogether avoiding orders that had flowers.Â
But over time I realised something, I didât need to recreate every tiny feature. I wasnât entering a botanical correctness competition. I just needed the flowers to be beautiful, recognisable and work with the overall cake design. Â
Once I just focused on the key characteristics that mattered most, everything became much simpler.
Each time I made them I improved and Iâve learnt a lot of techniques to make things easier along the way and I became so much more enjoyable.
One of the biggest things about creating realistic sugar florals isnât necessarily the tools or having a super natural talent  for it - itâs just refining your skills, practice and paying attention to the movement of the petals, texture techniques and colour variation.Â
Knowing how to create realistic florals can be the difference that takes your cakes from being just pretty to cakes that look high end and luxury, attracting more people to your business willing to pay higher prices for your cake designs.
If you want to create cakes that have a luxury feel and high-end look without the overwhelm of knowing where to start, or want to refine your skills in sugar floristry, then this course is for you!
Â
So many cake makers avoid floral cake designs because they donât feel confident enough to create them. Often looking to other cake makers when a client comes to you wanting sugar flowers which can create more costs for your business.
I used to shy away from flowers myself and would completely avoid taking on an order for them. But what I didnât realise then was that I was loosing a lot of potential business and income.
Over time, that self-doubt can limit your unique creativity, hold back your skills growth, and stop you from creating the elegant high-end looking cakes youâre actually capable of producing.
It wasn't until I learned some new skills in sugar floristry that I gained confidence in taking on these types of cakes.
I started attracting higher end clients and I went from turning down work for fear of not being good enough, to actually being able to charge a lot more for my crafts and turning my business from what felt like an expensive hobby into a business that was actually very profitable.
I was able to charge more for my time and skills and my revenue grew. Just from including sugar flowers into my work.
I took on more orders for floral type cakes and started getting into weddings. Thatâs when it really took off and I found the confidence.Â
